The Lord says to his people,
"Build houses and live in them;
plant gardens and eat their produce.
Take wives and have sons and daughters;
take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage,
that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do
not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent
- Jeremiah 29:5-7a
When the Lord God speaks these words to the nation of Israel while they are in exile he is issuing a vision of what it looks like for a people of promise to be displaced in other cultures. In many ways that is what we who are followers of Jesus Christ are called to do. We are not called to retreat, we are called to engage. We are not called to abandon, we are called to invest. We are not to sit on the sideline and wait, we are to seek the welfare of the communities where God has planted us. That is why our leadership team volunteers its time to make BASS the best conference it can be - we want to help church leaders become equipped to thrive in the places where God has called us to serve. Please know that our team of volunteers is here to serve you in any way we can, and we thank you for being a part of BASS 2016!
