    Discipling the Chinese Christian

    March 9, 2019 - 3:45 PM Room: N11

    Dr. David Eckman

    Dr. David Eckman

Every culture carries its baggage into Christianity. Like with everything else we must keep the best and throw out the rest. What are the particular challenges that Chinese individuals face as they enter the church? We will examine those, and share strategies.

With 2500 years of Confucian influence on their culture, and the tremendous upheaval of the cultural revolution, the Chinese Christian in China, Hong Kong, and the United States have utterly unique challenges to their Christian walk. We will examine six different areas to see how to meet those challenges, and share handouts containing effective spiritual exercises.

So many churches have put resources into poor acoustic materials and designs. Good acoustics is not simply throwing up some foam or fiberglass panels and making them stick to the walls. The cost of good, effective acoustic materials can be greatly reduced with in-house labor and teamwork. We will have practical ideas on how to build your own effective and pleasing acoustical treatment along with rule-of-thumb advice.

The workplace is the workplace; whether it's corporate America or in Christian ministry. Whether among Pastors and staff, CEOs and managers, Music Directors and musicians, or AV Staff and Worship Leaders, talking and communication are not always the same thing. If you serve on staff at your church in whatever capacity, good communication is vital to the successful completion of projects, meeting established deadlines, and building healthy relationships with co-workers. Efficiency and effectiveness in any workplace is important, and this is no less true in church-related work spaces.

    Will Yancy

    Will Yancy

According to LifeWay Research, 3 in 4 pastors know someone who has experienced domestic or sexual violence. Most opt for outside intervention to resolve acts of domestic/sexual violence that occur in the home. Although, few pastors are familiar with local resources, 8 in 10 pastors would take action to reduce domestic violence and sexual assault if they had training and resources.

Join us as we explore the dynamics of domestic Violence (DV), discover how to develop a culture of awareness in the church, and learn the importance of a domestic violence prevention. Attendees will learn how to develop intervention and prevention strategies and how to promote DV awareness across ministries within your church. You will also learn about local resources that are available to your church, how your church can become a resource within your community, and how your church can become one of a growing network of churches in California working to break the cycle of DV.

    March 9, 2019 - 3:45 PM Room: Heritage Room

    Becky Diehl

    Becky Diehl

Anger and Depression are most often the symptoms of unresolved sin issues in our past. This is a very unaddressed topic in our church today. We need God's validation for the hurt and pain as well as His love, comfort and healing. We will not find peace or joy or rest in the deepest part of our being until we feel God's love and find that Justice we search for. Practicing authentic biblical forgiveness is how God heals the human soul and frees us (like a key to our prison door) Anger and Depression stems from Sin and all it has stolen from us. Come and discover the two sides of forgiveness that can change your life and bring that Peace and joy that you long for. Learn how to put real practical forgiveness into practice and let it change your life. God's healing will allow you to step outside the prison doors to a victorious life filled with Joy and new opportunities. Note: Do you want to reach your family or the world for Jesus? They are hungry and longing to see real forgiveness lived out! Let's show them.
