2019 Workshop

Special Needs: Often Overlooked: Understanding Girls Who Have Autism

As experts diagnose an increasing number of girls and women with Autism, they are finding that the way Autism presents in girls is very different in girls than it is in boys Girls are often misdiagnosed or poorly understood, and there is potential risk in that oversight. This workshop will look at the unique ways Autism presents in girls. We will explore the dangers of misdiagnosis and will hear how women who have autism have described their strengths and challenges. Practical tips and tools will be shared to help you welcome, include, and help facilitate quality community with our female friends who are on the Spectrum
