2019 Workshop

Counseling: Domestic Violence Breaking the Cycle

3/9/2019 12:45 - 2:00 p.m. Room: D7

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men aged 18 and older in the US have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Domestic violence (DV), is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44. 1 in 3 congregants of all faith traditions will have some form of experience with DV. Join us as we explore the dynamics of DV, discuss how children are impacted by DV and the role trauma plays in their development, discover how to recognize signs of domestic violence and how to intervene appropriately. Attendees will learn how to support the victims/survivors of DV, the importance of a safety plan, how to hold the aggressor accountable, and how you can be a resource to those impacted by DV and help break the cycle.
