Jan Joaquin

Church Relations Coordinator

Joni and Friends Central Cal

Fresno, CA

Jan Joaquin is the Church Relations Coordinator for Joni and Friends Central California. She holds a bachelors degree in Organizational Leadership from Fresno Pacific University and is a Certified Leader for Beyond Suffering, preparing leaders in ministry and education to become involved in Disability Ministry. Jan has been involved in disability ministry since 2004. She is passionate about coming alongside churches and their volunteers to transform them into irresistible ministries that embrace families affected by disability. She oversees Heart of Jesus, a Buddy Ministry that serves families affected by disability in her home church. Her desire is that all children and their families would have the freedom to be part of the church body, to be taught the Word, to worship, to serve, and fully belong. She understands personally the intensity of raising a child with a disability; her daughter, Nicole, encounters daily challenges with various disabilities. Her and her husband, Manny, seek God’s perspective of Joy in perseverance as parents and community leaders for those desperately needing the hope and love of Christ.

2018 Workshop

Special Needs: We've Got This: Providing Respite for Families Affected by Disability

This workshop will explore practical tools for the church to plan and execute a respite event for parents of special needs children. These parents often are isolated and do not get a break from the demands of caring for their children. A respite will give couples a chance to re-connect and re-energize. The church gets a chance to show the love of Jesus by meeting valuable needs.
