Patrick Lee

Itinerant Pastor

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

San Jose, CA

Pastor Pat’s spiritual journey first began as he attended a Vacation Bible School program in the 4th grade at the invitation of a family friend. Later that year, he received Christ as his personal Savior on December 28, 1975. He served in many lay positions while growing up in the church; youth council, usher, choir, van driver, youth club leader, camp director to name a few. Pastor Pat received his Bachelor’s of Science (1988) and Master’s of Science (1989) degrees in Civil Engineering from UC Berkeley. He worked for 5 years in the water resources field; designing hydro-electric power plants and water conveyance systems. In November of 1992, Pastor Pat was called into the ministry and by January 1995, he began serving as the Youth Pastor at his home church (Bay Area Chinese Bible Church) in San Leandro. In the 12 years as Youth Pastor, Pastor Pat oversaw all of the youth ministries; from birth to high school (which then grew into college and young adult ministries), creating LIFTL Student Ministries while also serving as the church’s Christian school chaplain. In May of 2007, Pastor Pat joined Alameda’s Bay Farm Community Church staff as Associate Pastor. He was responsible for the Men’s, Women’s and Senior Adult’s ministries while also supervising the Student Ministries of the church. He administered policies and procedures for the church. Pastor Pat left Bay Farm in October of 2009 and is now working from home; speaking for local churches, retreats, youth groups, Christian schools and sports ministries. During the school day, he ministers with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) as their part time East Bay Director. After school, Pastor Pat becomes the house-husband, homework tutor, baseball and basketball coach, taxi driver, etc. for his family. In his “spare time”, he completed his degree at Western Seminary in San Jose, graduating in June of 2011. Pastor Pat and his wife, Cynthia, have been married since 1992. Cynthia works in the business side of health care while also being a mom to their three sons; Tyler (11th grade), Evan (8th grade) and Max (4th grade). They have lived in Castro Valley since 1999. They enjoy playing and watching sports, eating ice cream, strolling the mall and watching “who-dunnit” TV crime shows.

Youth: Reaching a Growing Lost People Group - The Public School Student

Public school students are quickly becoming a "lost people group" as their campuses are drifting away from God and embracing the world's values. Living in the affluent Bay Area, reaching them through meeting their "felt" needs" is predominately ineffective so combining faith and sports may be one of the few ways left to reach the students of our area. I will share the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' Huddle process on how to gain access to the public school student and share the gospel with them through stories of faith and sports.
