Special Grace Ministries of Northern California Nevada Assemblies of God
West Sacramento, Ca

Donnell Kenworthy credits her son, DJ, with teaching her that a life with disabilities, though challenging, can be fun, exciting and rewarding. DJ, born with Down syndrome, autism, and significant medical challenges, loves the Lord, delights in greeting people in his local church and has a special ministry of hugs! Donnell, and her husband, Darrell Kenworthy, co-direct Special Grace Ministries, the disAbility ministry arm of the Assemblies of God Northern California Nevada District. As such they consult, resource, network and train pastors and churches in disability ministry. Donnell also works in various capacities in her community as a State Council on Developmental Disabilities regional advisory committee member, Boardmember of Warmline Family Resource Center and PTI (Parent Training & Information Center), facilitating a faith-based care provider support group in her local church body and as a Project Leadership trainer for Family Voices of California. She has been a guest presenter at All Access Church Conference, Sacramento and serves in leadership with Joni & Friends Sacramento area ministry.

2020 Workshops

Special Needs: Addressing the Transitional Stages of Life: Child to Teen to Adult

To build an authentic community, one that reflects our communities, that worships, fellowships and serves the Lord together, we need to learn inclusive practices. This workshop will answer what typical transitions for individuals with disabilities and special needs are, how to anticipate and assess those transitions, a 5-step plan to make those transitions successful, and what attitude adjustments we need to make as the Body of Christ to arrive at an authentic community that truly attracts the unbeliever to Christ and sustains the local body in their mission to reach their communities.
