Pastor Bill Betts has served as Minister of Education at San Francisco Christian Center for the past nineteen years under the leadership of Bishop Donald E. Green and Pastor Roderick Gittens.

He came to Christian Center in 1986 after graduating from UC Berkeley with BA degrees in Social Welfare and Spanish Language/Literature. After working with World Relief to support Spanish-speaking churches in developing legal service outreach programs, “Mr. Betts” began a ten-year teaching/administrative career at Fellowship Academy, a non-profit Christian academic leadership school reaching the urban community of San Francisco. After receiving his call and ordination to ministry at SFCC, he pursued and completed a Masters of Divinity degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 2006.

Pastor Bill is known for his contagious enthusiasm for the Word of God, his creativity as a communicator of the truths of Scripture, his strategic envisioning and his interactive relational style. While he loves to delve into the depths of Biblical and theological study, his overriding concern is that the Spirit of God enliven the Word to accomplish His life and world-transforming Gospel purposes in our personal lives and together as the Body of Christ for our communities and to the ends of the earth.

2018 Workshops

Men's Ministry: Prayer for Men Who Aren't Good at Prayer

3/2/2018

When the Disciples observed Jesus' prayer life they knew they needed Him to teach them to pray. How His answer to them provides what men need today.

Men's Ministry: Speak the Truth in Love

3/2/2018

As men called to lead by godly example how do we avoid the extremes of insisting on bold "truth" that succeeds in breaking down but fails to build up and a compromising "love" that shies away from necessary confrontation for change? Through Biblical examples and practical strategies on 'crucial conversations' we will illustrate the underlying principles and engage in class exercises to better equip us all to more effectively grow to maturity by speaking the truth in love. (Ephesians 4:15)
