I have been working at 3Crosses Church since March 2010. I currently serve as the Pastor of Hospitality, in the Community of Life Department. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I gave my life to Jesus at about the age of nine years old. As a youth, I played basketball and judo and won several state championships in both sports. After graduating from High School I joined the United States Army and served for twenty years. In 1989, while in the army and station in Hayward, CA, I meet Alicia and we married in 1991. Moreover, it was during this time that God called me to ministry and after retiring from the army as a Master Sergeant in 1995, I enrolled in Patten University, which was Patten College at the time. I graduate from Patten with a Bachelors Degree in Pastoral Studies and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters Degree in Intercultural Ministries. After seminary, I was hired as a Probation Officer where I work full time and as a Bi-vocational Pastor at the Parkhaven Baptist Church in Concord, CA. After serving for several years at the Parkhaven church Alicia and I, began to sense God calling for us to move. Therefore, we began to pray that God would send us to a church with a good youth program for our daughter Christina and a church here we could grow. In the early summer of 2008, God lead us to 3Crosses and in August 2008 we joined. In March of 2010, God opened a door and I came on part time and eventually full time in August of 2011. My primary responsibility as Pastor of Hospitality include, overseeing our Hospitality Teams. Our Hospitality Teams are a group of 10 volunteer ministries that is the “face” of 3Crosses to our many guest and visitors. These teams include our Greeters, Ushers, Parking, Guest Reception and Information Center as well as others. My responsibilities are to train the leaders of these ministries and coordinate their activities at our weekend services and special outreach events.

2017 Workshops

Evangelism & Outreach: Church Hospitality As Evangelism

3/3/2017

In this seminar we will look at the areas of ushering, greeting, parking, information, first-aid, prayer team, etc. We will discuss how these ministries can be evangelistic, and some facts about the people we serve, and some do’s and don'ts for evangelism. A section of the workshop will be devoted to participants sharing some of their own experiences related to hospitality and evangelism.

We will also look at how hospitality and evangelism intertwine? Depending on what study you read, up to 70%-90% of those who visit our churches don’t come back for a second visit. Surely, they may not come back for a variety of reason but for many the church’s hospitality plays a major role.

Upon completion of this workshop attenders will know: 1. How God can use the hospitality to draw people back to their church.

2. How God can use hospitality to draw people to Himself and the church for the first time.

3. How to encourage hospitality team members to have a greater commitment.

A good church hospitality ministry is like when someone visits the house of a friend and is made to feel welcomed and the guest doesn’t want to leave. Then the guest goes out and tells others about their awesome experience of being welcomed at a friend’s house and therefore inspiring other to visit.

I think this is what Jesus was describing when he said in Matt.5:16 “Let your light shine before men, that they will see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

We at BASS are excited about this workshop and hope that you will join us for a workshop that reveals the importance of hospitality as it relates to with evangelism.
