Mike Broyles

Executive Director
Awana Lifeline
Valencia, CA

Mike has a passion for bringing the gospel message to inmate fathers and mothers. He believes that as these men and woman are reconciled to Christ and as they are taught the fundamentals of biblical parenting, they will then be equipped to reconcile with their children. Their children can then grow up learning about Christ and can avoid the high probability of becoming incarcerated themselves. To make this happen, Mike is aggressively spreading the Malachi Dads program for men inmates and the Hannah’s Gift program for woman inmates to prisons and jails across the United States, inside the Dominican Republic, and into Canada. Mike’s story Teaching and education have always held a strong interest for Mike. several pastoral positions, at various churches, spanning a 40 year time period. During those years, his lover for children grew as he and his wife Debbie administered children’s Sunday school programs and Awana clubs. Since 2008, Mike has been involved in Jail/Prison ministry, spearheading the implementation of a Malachi Dads program and annual Returning Hearts Celebration into the Los Angeles County Jail system which was soon followed by the Hannah’s Gift program. A heart for the children of prisoners, their guardians, and the prisoners There is a 70% likelihood that children who have an incarcerated parent will end up being incarcerated themselves. Mike wants to break this chain of incarceration by helping these children to become godly adults.

The key step to making this happen is for the inmate father or mother to reconcile with their children. Mike is seeing that this happens through the administration of Malachi Dads and Hannah’s Gift.

Mike sees the children’s guardian as a key component to the reconciliation process since they can provide the nurturing element needed by the child while the parent is in prison and can help encourage the reconciliation between the child and his or her parent. So in conjunction with Returning Hearts Awana Lifeline has a Guardian program that ministers to the guardians while the children under their care attend the Returning Hearts program.
