Missions: Teaching Overseas -- Mission and Ministry

3/9/2019 12:45 - 2:00 p.m. Room: N10

Teaching Overseas is both a mission and a ministry. This workshop will examine how teaching English overseas is one of the many ways in which God can use Christians to help fulfill the Great Commission. You don’t have to be a “career” teacher to make a lasting impact on the lives of your students. We will explore the numerous ways in which Christians can maximize their curriculum so that the Good News can be presented in the classroom in a careful and respectful manner, and at the same time, encourage their students to reflect upon important matters of life and faith. In addition, like biblical shepherds, we will explore how Christian teachers can

Missions: Teaching Overseas -- Mission and Ministry

3/4/2016

Teaching Overseas is both a mission and a ministry. This workshop will examine how teaching English overseas is one of the many ways in which God can use Christians to help fulfill the Great Commission. You don’t have to be a “professional” or “career” teacher to make a lasting impact on the lives of your students. We will explore the numerous ways in which Christian teachers can maximize their curriculum so that the Good News can be presented in the classroom in a careful and respectful manner. We will also look at ways in which Christian teachers can encourage their students to reflect upon important matters of life and faith. Finally, like biblical shepherds, we will explore how Christian teachers can "shepherd" their students in unique and creative ways, becoming not only effective ambassadors for Christ, but also the "hands and feet" of Jesus.

Evangelism & Outreach: The Ministry of Teaching Abroad

3/6/2015

In some countries, traditional missionaries aren’t welcome, but universities welcome foreign teachers and experts. While teaching English, literature, science, engineering, business topics, or other areas where they are qualified, Christians are able to show God’s love to college students. This seminar will talk about the openings for Christian teachers overseas (with an emphasis on China), the type of ministry they are able to perform and the challenges these teachers face. It will discuss getting prepared to go, qualifications, living situations and adapting.
