Born and raised in the Bay Area, I also spent several decades in the Korean church. During my undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, I served in Korean Campus Mission, and earned my bachelors degree in English Literature, with a minor in Asian American Studies.

Upon graduation, I worked in Korea as a schoolteacher, and served at Onnuri Church in the youth ministry. I then moved to Southern California to enroll at Biola University for a masters of divinity degree. During this time I served in pastoral ministry for 8 years at 2 Korean churches.

From pastoral ministry, I discovered what my spiritual gifts were, and decided to transition to a different type of ministry: marriage and family therapy. I enrolled at Azusa Pacific University for a masters in clinical psychology degree, and am working currently to finish my clinical hours, in hopes of serving the Bay Area as a licensed therapist. I am now able to better understand and address the emotional and mental health needs of pastors and other servants in the church.

Asian: Emotional Health of Korean Pastors

Korean pastors tend to neglect their emotional health, which often leads to burnout and codependency. This workshop will explore what emotional health is, possible reasons why Korean pastors tend to neglect their emotional health, the advantages of being emotionally healthy, and what can be done to improve emotional health.
