I was raised in San Jose, CA, the oldest of 8 children. I was raised in a New Age church, & became a Christian at age 15. Subsequent to that, my large extended family came to Christ as well. My parents ended up going to Bible College & became missionaries when I was in my first year of college. I married my great husband Paul at age 21. We moved to WA state, where I graduated college with a double major in English & History & a teaching credential. Paul went to seminary to become a pastor, & over the years I taught Elementary Music & Choir, Kindergarten, & 2nd & 3rd Grade. We adopted 3 boys - Steven, Michael & Sean. Steven was just named Marine of the Month at Camp Pendleton! We have live in WA, Chicago, Alaska & CA in our marriage; I have loved being a pastor's wife for most of those years. I took seminary coursework along with Paul, & much of our church life has been as a ministry couple. We have lived in Oakland for 10 years. I taught at an inner city middle school for 3 years prior to the past 3 years working for New Day. I love travel, reading, the arts, nature, & chocolate!
