Counseling: Overcoming Depression and Low Self-Esteem

3/8/2019 9:00 - 10:15 a.m. Room: Heritage Room

Most people suffer under chronic depression, a loss of hope that they will ever be 'good enough' to earn people's love. Learn what depression is, where it comes from and how to overcome it through the practice of real forgiveness of the people in our past.

Counseling: Anger, Justice and Forgiveness

3/8/2019 3:00 - 4:15 p.m. Room: Heritage Room

Most people have been taught that anger is wrong and must be suppressed or controlled or managed. God actually commands us to be angry (Ephesians 4:26), but to get rid of it by the end of the day. Anger is actually the human heart's cry for justice which is a God-given need. We cannot ignore or reject that need. God wants to meet that need, and in so doing enable us to forgive those who sin against us. Learn how to identify the source of anger and how God satisfies a heart's cry for justice.

Counseling: The Two Sides of Sin and Forgiveness

3/9/2019 11:15 - 12:30 p.m. Room: Heritage Room

Forgiveness is often seen as being very confusing because most people have not been adequately taught about the two sides of sin: penalty and consequences. Understanding the two sides of sin is critical if we are to understand what God is doing when He forgives sin and how we are to follow His pattern of forgiveness in receiving it from Him, forgiving others and asking others to forgive us. In this workshop we will examine the two sides of sin and forgiveness.

2018 Workshops

Counseling: The Six Activities of Life Transformation - How to Become More Like Jesus

3/2/2018

The gospel of Jesus Christ is much, much more than just being saved from hell. God's salvation focuses on transforming us into the character likeness of Jesus Himself. Becoming a Christian is not the conclusion of this process; it is the beginning. God tells us in Philippians 2:12 that we are to "...work out our salvation..." Learn the six basic activities to accelerate and deepen this process.

Counseling: The Two Sides of Sin and Forgiveness

3/2/2018

When we look at all the verses in the Bible that speak about forgiveness we discover a very perplexing dilemma. Sometimes forgiveness is unconditional and sometimes it is conditional. How can this be? How can anything be conditional and unconditional at the same time? The solution lies in understanding the two sides of sin and forgiveness. In this workshop we will examine these two sides and how to effectively practice them in our lives.

Counseling: How to Forgive

3/2/2018

There are many different models of and suggestions on how to practice forgiveness in the church today. Most of them fall short of God's model and practice of forgiveness. Our inadequate practice of forgiveness leaves so many in the church wounded, broken, hurt, angry, shamed, depressed, demonized, demoralized, addicted, etc. In this workshop we will look at how God practices forgiveness and how to follow His pattern. Practicing God's forgiveness the way He does allows Him to heal, deliver, free and empower us.

Counseling: Why Marriages Fail - And What You Can Do About It

3/3/2018

There are many circumstantial triggers that can lead to a failed marriage. However there are only a few basic reasons why a marriage fails. In this workshop we will explore the three basic reasons why marriages fail, and what we can do to overcome them.

Counseling: Real Forgiveness - Real Healing

3/3/2018

Sins damage everything they touch, including the function of the human soul. Everyone sins. Everyone has had multiple people sin against them. Everyone is wounded and broken. We all function out of our brokenness, even Christians. Becoming a Christian does not automatically heal us, nor does time. God heals the human soul when we practice real forgiveness; receiving it from God, forgiving others and asking others to forgive us.

In this workshop we will examine the damaging nature of sin and the healing power of God's forgiveness. We will also look at the four biggest, missing elements of true, biblical forgiveness in the church today. This will help us to enter into God forgiveness more deeply, become healed more completely, and be able to help others to experience the same.

Counseling: Helping Hurting People

3/3/2018

Someone comes to you with a problem. You would like to help them. Where do you start? What is your goal? How do you get there? While people's problems may vary greatly, the process of helping them follows a basic pattern that can be easily followed. This workshop is for counselors, small group leaders, pastors, family members and friends - anyone who would like to help hurting, troubled people experience God in the midst of their problems.

2017 Workshops

Counseling: How to Restore Broken Relationships (and How to Make Good Relationship Better)

3/3/2017

God designed human beings for loving relationships, first with Him and then with each other. However, sins damage those relationships. A huge part of the good news of Jesus Christ is God's ability to heal and restore broken relationships. He does this as we practice all aspects of His forgiveness -- receiving it from Him, forgiving others and asking others to forgive us. We also need to learn how to give other people the best opportunities to do the same. In this workshop we will introduce and examine the six principles of Relational Forgiveness, which is how we can create the best opportunity for a broken relationship to be restored and good relationships to be optimized.

Counseling: Why Marriages Fail - and What You Can Do About It

3/3/2017

Broken and unsatisfying marriage relationships are all too common in the Church today. But it does not have to be this way. If we know the basic reasons why a marriage fails and how to overcome those obstacles then we will have a much better opportunity to enjoy marriage as God desires it to be. In this workshop we will examine the three basic reasons why marriages fail and what we can do to remedy these common problems.

Counseling: How to Forgive Someone Who Has Sinned Against You

3/3/2017

Sins damage the human soul much like a knife can damage the human body, causing both pain (which leads to anger) and dysfunction. All people have damaged souls, both from our own sins and from the sins others have committed against us. God can and wants to heal us and set us free from the damaging effects of these sins, but to do so He must wait for us to forgive those who have sinned against us.

However, most Christians struggle in their practice of forgiveness because many false and unbiblical models of forgiveness have been introduced into the Church. In this workshop we will examine the six basic steps of biblical forgiveness and how to practice them so that God can heal you and set you free.

Counseling: What You Might Not Know About Biblical Forgiveness

3/4/2017

There are many misleading and unproductive ideas about forgiveness that have crept into the Church of Jesus Christ, and without wonder, as Satan does not want God's people to practice real forgiveness. God heals the human soul and restores broken relationships when people practice all aspects of God's forgiveness (receiving it from God, forgiving others, asking others to forgive us, overcoming self-condemnation and eliminating anger against God). So Satan has flooded the Church with counterfeits. People are suffering unnecessarily because they do not know what real forgiveness is or how to practice it. In this workshop we will examine the four most important but neglected aspects of biblical forgiveness.

Helping people to develop a lifestyle of biblical forgiveness is a necessary part of pastoral ministry, counseling, evangelism, discipleship and more. The Kingdom of God is built upon forgiveness and every Christian should be one the world's leading experts in real forgiveness. The world does not know what real forgiveness is. God made forgiveness possible through Jesus. Without Jesus there is no forgiveness. This workshop will help you to better understand and practice biblical forgiveness.

2016 Workshops

Counseling: How to Overcome Depression

3/4/2016

Some depression is natural and healthy, but most of it is unhealthy and debilitating. This workshop will focus on what depression is, where it comes from and how we can let God heal and free us from an unhealthy bondage to depression.

Marriage & Families: What You Might Not Know About Forgiveness

3/5/2016

There are many models of forgiveness floating around in the church today, so many in fact that it can be very difficult to discover what the Bible is really saying about authentic, life-transforming forgiveness. Steve Diehl, the founder and director of Forgiveness Ministries, will explain the four most missing elements of most people's concepts of forgiveness. Steve will be talking about fully receiving God's forgiveness, effectively forgiving others, asking others to forgive us, restoring broken relationships, resolving anger towards God, overcoming self-condemnation and loving our enemies with God's love.

3/6/2015

Human beings have very basic and predictable needs. We also have very consistent responses to when our needs are not met. In this workshop we will look at the three basic reasons why marriages fail, or fail to reach their full potential. Some might say that the three reasons are stress from money issues, sex issues and in-law issues. However, these are external factors. A healthy relationship can overcome all three of these. The real issues that destroy any relationship are inside of us. Come discover the three basic inner problems that cause marriages to fail and how to overcome them.

Counseling: How to Become More Like Jesus

3/6/2015

God's goal is to transform Christians into the very likeness of Jesus Christ, so that we think like Jesus, talk like Jesus and behave like Jesus. This radical transformation of a human soul does not happen all at once when a person becomes a Christian. It is a life-long process. It is a part of our salvation that each Christian needs to "work out" over time. While the Holy Spirit is always leading us into the practice of those activities that God uses to transform us, we can accelerate and deepen the process by knowing what they are and then proactively participating in them. Come and learn the six basic activities that God uses to transform us in the image of Jesus.

Counseling: How to Overcome Anger
