Vickie Wilson is married to Pastor Lee Wilson. She is a member of Open Bible Faith Community Church. She and Lee has two sons, and a most precious granddaughter. Vickie is a Registered Nurse; her area of proficiency is in cardiovascular care and healthcare quality improvement. She has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Leadership and Management from William Jessup University and an International Master of Business Administration from California State University, East Bay. Vickie works at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center as a Health Care Quality Reform Improvement Manager. Vickie is founder of VillageWalk Global Outreach, a 501(c) charitable foundation. Through VillageWalk she has taken many on trips to East Africa in which she has organized: health care to villagers and orphans, built a primary school and birthing clinic. Vickie has been involved in many aspects of community service most all of her life. Vickie enjoys spending time with family, taking long walks, reading and writing. Her book, Who Shall Roll Away the Stone, is expected to be publish in early 2015. The words of the prayer attributed to Xavarian Missionary, Archbishop Oscar Arnulfo Romero of El Salvador (1917-1980) best describes what Vickie is about. “This is what we are about. We plant the seeds that one day will grow. We water the seeds already planted knowing that they hold future promise. We lay foundations that will need further development. We provide yeast that produces effects far beyond our capabilities. We may never see the end results, we are prophets of a future not our own.” Favorite verse: John 15:5, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. “

Women's Ministry: The Joys and Challenges of the Pastor's Wife

3/7/2015

Being a pastor’s wife is challenging. The perpetual responsibility of leading a church is difficult, and the pressures of the pastor inevitably affects his wife. Many ministries think the Pastor and his wife has no trials, no struggles and no heartaches. Some are even intolerable and highly critical of an “imperfect Pastor’s family”. In some ministries there are inherent expectations of the Pastor’s wife. Often the Pastor’s wife feel she has nowhere to turn for support to deal with her uniqueness. In nearly 30 years of being a Pastor’s wife, I have known the joys and sorrows of being a Pastor’s wife. This session will speak to the uniqueness of the Pastor’s wife. This class will bring hope and encouragement. You will know, you are not alone in the challenges you face every day. A frightening number of Pastors’ wives has given up subtly, as well as overtly. Some Pastors’ wives keep up an exterior happy facade, but inside they are dealing with loneliness, pressures and loss of identity.

The class we will explore the following topics:

I. Lord, I just want my husband back II. The Difficulties of being a Pastor’s Wife III. Just going through the motions IV. Discourage, bitter and I want to give up V. Fit for Service - taking care of mind, body and soul VI. God is your helper
