Rev. Dr. Peter Wang has been in full-time church ministry since 1996 in a variety of roles such as church planter, para-church ministry founder and multi-staff church pastor, with a ministry emphasis on leadership & organizational development and creative outreach to the postmodern generation. He has a BA from Berkeley, Master's degree from Western Seminary, and Doctorate degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He is currently the Executive Director of Chinese Bible Mission, a historic Asian American church planting and Missions organization.

From the current trade war between US and China to workplace tension, leadership style conflict and Asian immigrant parents raising up their Westernized children, these cultural differences between the EAST and WEST have hindered effective communication and ministry. This workshop will explore how Asian culture differs from the West, its impact on variety of cross-cultural interactions and provide biblical, gospel, and redemptive solutions to ameliorate the conflict.

We will look at its historical development and especially focus on its explosive growth starting in the 1980s. Being in the Bay Area, having one of the highest concentration of Chinese Americans in the United States, this workshop hopes to explore the possible roles we can play in this miraculous work of God that is taking place in this great nation.

Asian: Guilt, Shame and Conscience: A Biblical Approach

Many people, including Christians, live with paralyzing sense of guilt and shame. Furthermore, their conscience is a source of constant condemnation. We will examine these commonly felt emotions from a Biblical perspective, and develop in us a matured conscience that leads to freedom.

This workshop hopes to give some context to the phenomena of “Emerging Adulthood”, in which the young adults of today seem to mature later by previous generations' standards. It will provide some practical recommendations for parents and young adult children on how to relate to one another in this context. Furthermore, the seminar hopes to start a conversation for churches in its discipleship and outreach to this generation of emerging adults.
